All too often we are faced with how to help individuals impacted by mental illness in a helpful and cost-effective way. Through it’s mandate to help build sustainable communities, The Co-operators embarked on an enterprise-wide mental health initiative aimed at supporting the mental wellness of our own workplace as well as the workplaces of our group benefit clients. Because of this initiative, The Co-operators partnered with WorldCare International, Inc. to research the opportunity for mental health second opinion consultations. We will provide an update on the WorldCare study and share additional learnings from our mental health initiative. .

Medical Cannabis – Practical Considerations for Plan Sponsors
Regardless of a specific plan sponsor’s view on medical cannabis, evolving clinical treatment guidelines and expanding clinical trials globally will continue to enhance both demand for, and acceptance of, cannabinoids as a treatment option in specific conditions when established treatments have failed. This session will review practical considerations for plan sponsors of all sizes to begin thinking about as they develop policies and coverage frameworks around medical cannabis. Cubic will share examples of how plans with varying degrees of financial means and safety sensitivity have been approaching medical cannabis.
