Yafa Sakkejha is the General Manager at Beneplan. She has been involved in the benefits industry since 1995 and has implemented hundreds of employee benefit plans. She works with advisors and employers to structure efficient plans which minimize waste, eliminate fraud, synchronize with government programs, and drug patient assistance programs. She currently looks for new ways to leverage group buying power, and negotiate refunds on premiums for employers. Yafa has most recently been called on to consult for the policy and strategy of the role of personalized medicine (genetics) in employee benefit plans. Prior to joining Beneplan, Yafa worked in business consulting and owned a business in the wellness industry. She holds a B.Comm (Hons) From Queen’s University.
Paula Pettit’s practice focuses on Labour and Employment Law. She brings over 15 years’ of experience in labour relations to her practice, providing pragmatic advice with a view to achieving optimal results in a cost-effective manner. While Paula has advocated on behalf of management in a variety of settings and industries, she started her career in labour relations in film and television. In addition to the entertainment industry, she has acted for public and private sector employers, advising clients on their rights regarding labour relations, employment standards, human rights, privacy, occupational health and safety, workers’ compensation, pension benefits and pay equity.
Paula has extensive experience working closely with human resources leaders, advising on executive compensation, compliance and progressive HR practices, and also conducting workplace investigations.
Over the past several years, Paula has facilitated labour and management relations courses and seminars, as well as contributed to related publications.
Youlanda Hart, RN
Director, Organizational Consulting, Integrated Health Solutions
Youlanda is the Director of Organizational Consulting for Integrated Health Solutions (IHS) at Sun Life Financial. Integrated Health Solutions (IHS) is a dedicated business area designed to support the workplace health objectives of Canadian organizations. In this role, Youlanda leads a high performing team who delivers industry leading absence and wellness consulting expertise to Group Benefits clients.
Youlanda joined Sun Life in February 2015. Prior to joining Sun Life, Youlanda was the regional manager of the Ontario disability operation at Medavie Blue Cross. Youlanda has a nursing diploma from George Brown College and has spent her professional career in occupational health in the financial sector, disability case management, rehabilitation consulting and medical management for a Workers Compensation provider in the United States.
